Yesterday, I received the call that my running mate, Melinda Baxter and I were certified to primary the incumbent representatives, Gloria DePina and Lila Wallace.Yeah! What does that mean? We turned in 94 democratic voter signatures from District 5- the Westside more than meeting the 64 signatures required.
On September 14, 2021 we will have our primary and it will be a noteworthy day. New leadership in District 5. Hope for the people of the Westside. Grassroots governing takes time in building coalitions between people on common issues. The key issue for Stamford is overdevelopment and unwholesome and biased zoning and land use practices.
Melinda and I have Martin Luther King, Jr. Apartments, Black ancestry, love for people, especially youth and improving opportunities for all- in common.
I will share more as the weeks go by. This is a long journey and backdropped by the pandemic and the Delta variant. We must be cautious and remain safe. I received my second shot on Monday.
