Thanks for joining me!
Today I am beginning my spoken word offerings. Sometimes it may be a poem or a situation that is stirring in my heart. Like today. I am simmering on a nasty email I received from an individual who is part of a leadership group for which I volunteer. This man is uptight and unable to take any type of criticism or boundary setting. Yesterday, I had enough! I told him he was bullying me and I will not accept it! I do not know about you but when I volunteer it comes from the heart. I also sacrifice much because I have congestive heart failure and it puts an extra burden on me. Breathing is often and issue. Sometimes I cannot participate in the activity they may need people to participate in.
The older I get the more comfortable I am in taking responsibility for my time and for guarding my heart. No bullies allowed here. Oh, no! Not at 63 years old. Yesterday was the first day of summer and I plan on having a great one. How about you? You gonna have a ball this summer?
Summer is the time for my favorite martini, Espresso!
Fireflies & Espresso Martinis
She never drank a martini till I made the first for her.
She thought it was for “siditty” people, who were UPTIGHT and held their lips purse.
My gal was more the “Rusty Nail” kind, Johnny Walker and Drambuie, that cocktail really made her feel so groo-vvvy.
But, I told her, “Come on honey, let me do this for you- an Expresso Martini, you just gotta do!
I will mix it in a shaker and shake it till its so, so cool,
Pour it into a pretty deep glass, watch you sip it and curl your toes too.
Slowly the warmth of the nectar traveled up her neck and her speech grew quieter-than when the evening had first begun.
She leaned into me and slowly said,
“We are all alone now, Baby and for you a lap dance can be had.”
Here, we’ll sit on the railing of this grand wrap around porch- watching fireflies dance as the water lilies float.
The lake shimmers so pretty as it’s rolling by, but it’s not nearly as lovely as the Beauty I have in my eyes.
How lucky can a man be to have all of this-
A lakefront property;
fireflies; a beautiful grown woman; and an Espresso Martini at my lips.
That’s all for today. The crowd will be coming in for lunch soon and there’s more prep work to be done. Ciao Baby!
